Job Description
Provide acute care to individuals and their families, including medical diagnosis, treatment of new and chronic health problems as well as health promotion and disease prevention. To accomplish this goal the NP will work both autonomously and in collaboration with medical staff. Will serve as a patient advocate, resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary consultant. Obtains health histories and performs physical examinations. Coordinates patient care by interacting with key ancillary departments such as pharmacy, imaging, laboratory, home care, therapies and dietary. Performs procedures for diagnostic and/or therapeutic purposes including, but not limited to, suturing, wound care, incision and drainage, cardioversion and central line insertion. Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications that are warranted by patient''s diagnosis or changing medical condition. Develops and participates in community outreach programs and educational offerings.
Participates in research activities as appropriate to the nurse''s education and position.
***Position will work days 0700-1930. Will work Saturday and Sunday with a Weekend Premium. Will be required to work 3 out of 4 weekends.***
