Job Description
Schedule: Nights (flexible)
Average census: 14 Length of patient stay: 4.5 – 5.5 days
Total beds: 16 in CCU and 6 in PPCCU Nurse to Patient Ratio: 2:1 and 3:1
Case types: Variety of ICU patients; All cardiac intensive- AMI, ICD, CHF, Cardiogenic Shock, IABP, Temporary Pacemaker, Arrhythmias, Post PCI (stent), hemodynamic monitoring and Med/surg ICU patients. Pneumonia, Respiratory insufficiency, AAA repair, Colostomy, Thoracotomy, Renal failure, CVVHD.
Technology/ Equipment commonly used:
IABP, CVVHD Machine, SpaceLab Monitor, Medtronic Pacemaker generator, Transcuteneous pacemaker, Physiocontrol monitor/ defibrillator, Abbott pump.
Certifications preferred: CCRN or CVCRN
Preferred backgrounds:
Strong critical thinking skills. ACLS and BLS certified, at least 2 years experience in ICU/CCU, ability to care for high acuity patients (IABP/ CVVHD). Function independently during code situations. Titrate drip and ability to adjust based on the Homodynamic findings (SWAN). Ability to operate temporary pacemaker and knowledge of the different modes. Interpretation of 12 lead EKG. Will consider 2 years experience with 80% of the above skills.
