Job Description

To deliver care to patients and families whose needs range from basic to complex by utilizing the nursing process. To create a therapeutic and trusting environment for patient and family care. To carry out functions in a manner consistent with the Elliot Hospital Model of Care utilizing the APIE method (Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation) of quality improvement. Establishes relationships between the nurse and the patient and/or family. Demonstrates care and concern for patients and families. Respects patients values and their influence in the care and outcome. Demonstrates trust and respect for patients and families. Begins to acknowledge and demonstrates regard for patients’/families’ response to health/illness. Directs comforting modalities toward decreasing discomfort or distress. Attends to basic comfort needs utilizing standard nursing approaches. Provides for patient’s dignity during provision of care. Assures calm, supportive and therapeutic environment for patients and their families, serving as an advocate when appropriate. Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for nurse/patient relationship to ensure continuity. Establishes a trusting patient/family relationship from which the nurse identifies self as responsible and accountable for care from admission through discharge. Develops plans of care for patient/family. Assumes responsibility for caregiver-to-caregiver communication. Maintains a caseload of patients. Prioritizes and manages assignment effectively as evidenced by task completion in a timely manner. Monitors the care students and/or ancillary staff provide.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience: Minimum 1 year of recent clinical experience. Demonstrates clinical expertise consistent with behaviors as outlined for a RN II nurse.
Licensure: Current registration in the State of New Hampshire as a Registered Nurse.
