Job Description
Everyone knows that the heart of any hospital are its NURSES! And I have a need for a Director, Utilization Management (UM) and this needs to be a RN with at least 8-10 years of clinical experience, UM experience and management experience in a UM department. This position manages about 18 employees .
This position has oversight responsibility to plan, develop, and direct the Utilization Management Department, including the sections for authorizations, concurrent review and case management. Develops and implements effective and efficient standards, protocols and processes; department decision support systems; and reports and benchmarks that support continual enhancement of utilization management functions and promote quality health care for members. Promotes service excellence and financial success for the department and company. Manages the department in an environment of fairness and a spirit of teamwork.
REQUIRED: RN required; Bachelor degree required; RN with active licensure in Utah; Minimum five (5) years management experience in managed care and Utilization/quality; minimum three (3) years Clinical Nursing experience; Analytical problem solving capabilities, operational and process improvement experience; Strong interpersonal skill, with emphasis to establish positive physician interactions; Ability to manage in a team building atmosphere; Knowledge of applicable state, federal and third party regulations and standards (Medicare and NCQA)Must be free of sanctions from Medicaid or any other government program and without restrictions that would affect job performance.
PREFERRED: Masters degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience; Supervisory, management and leadership skills; Excellent verbal and written communications skills; Proficiency with Computer Information Systems and software; Strong organization, time management and problem resolution; CCM, QM/UM Certification preferred; NCQA accreditation experience.
