Job Description for: ACUTE REGISTERED NURSE
Reports to: Acute Program Director
FLSA Status: Non-exempt or Exempt
Job Summary:
Plans and provides professional nursing care for patients under the direction and in cooperation with Program Director and in accordance with physician orders, DAVIDA Healthcare Policies, Procedures and Guidelines, OSHA, HCFA, AAMI, JCAHO, federal, state and local regulations. Assists and supervises assigned staff members in the delivery of patient care.
Duties and Responsibilites:
The following duties and responsibilities generally reflect the expectations of this position but are not intended to be all inclusive.
Performs duties independently, in a professional manner, without immediate or continuous supervision, following dialysis orders obtained from the Nephrologist.
Performs patient assessments; obtains vital signs and appropriate data, evaluates data and intervenes as appropriate; initiates and terminates hemodialysis treatments on patients with permanent fistulas, grafts, or catheters; performs additional procedures such as peritoneal dialysis, CRRT, plasmapheresis, hemoperfusion treatments as assigned. May facilitate physician rounding.
Administers medications and intravenous solutions; maintains records and reports according to DaVida Healthcare and hospital policy and procedure; educates the patient and their family to comply with physicians’ orders; participates and directs emergency care.
Complies with all JCAHO requirements as required for inpatient dialysis, including, but not limited to Age Specific Competencies.
