Job Description
Schedule: Nights (flexible)
Average census: 8 Length of patient stay: 12 day average Nurse to Patient Ratio:2:1
Total beds in the Neuro ICU: 8 Total beds in Neurosciences: 38 beds across 3 levels of care.
Nurses in Neuroscience: 75 Neurosciences specialty nurses.
Case types:
Stroke, Epilepsy, Traumatic Brain Injury, Spine Surgery, Neuro Diagnostics, Neuro Oncology, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Pain and Spasticity Management, Parkinson’s Disease.
Technology/ Equipment commonly used: Space Labs monitors including EKG, Hemodynamic and Intracranial Pressure (ICP) monitoring; Lumbar drains. Ventriculostomy
Certifications preferred: Critical Care Course, ACLS, NIH Stroke Scale Certification (must be willing to obtain this certification.)
Preferred backgrounds: 2-5 years experience in critical care. Must have strong critical thinking skills and Neuro exposure. Familiar with trauma, closed head injuries, spinal cord injuries, and intracranial pressure management. Familiar with hemodynamic monitoring, ICP, and Ventriculostomy. Neuro experience and leadership skills also preferred.
