Job Description
Works in collaboration with the surgical services and performs all recoveries of all surgical patients; geriatric through pediatric.
Conducts initial and ongoing age-appropriate assessments for assigned patients.
Analyzes and diagnoses alterations in findings with patient’s clinical presentation.
Continuously educates patient/family to support progression on the plan of care and post-discharge self-care abilities.
Applies safety measures appropriate for the patient’s age and development.
Consistently demonstrates accurate and complete documentation.
Utilizes computer applications and medical complex information systems.
Able to perform cardiac outputs, troubleshoot pacemaker, use defibrillator, IABP monitoring
Monitor chest tubes
Assist with procedure and monitor procedure patients ie, Cardioversion, Electroconvulsive Therapy, ERCP
Airway management - insertion of nasal airways and oral airways, ventilator monitoring, Endotracheal tube suctioning.
Recovery of Phase I post-op patients, Monitor and identify cardiac rhythm/arrhythmias, respiratory, thermoregulation, pain monitoring and control.
Performs Conscious Sedation Monitoring for procedure patients in conjunction with physician.
-Education: Graduation from a National League for Nursing (NLN) approved school with an Associate Degree, Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in nursing is required.
-Experience: Work experience providing direct patient care in an acute care setting is required
-Licensure: Current license to practice as a RN in the State of Wisconsin is required
-Certification: ACLS Certification is required
-Certification: PALS preferred
-Skills: Ability to assess data and identify patients'' age-specific requirements and provide age-appropriate care is required
-Skills: Must be willing to learn new technical skills related to the position on an ongoing basis to maintain satisfactory competence and performance
